The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, has ordered the immediate relocation of the election petitions Tribunal on the Kogi State governorship poll to Abuja.
Prior to its relocation, the election petitions tribunal in the state comprising Justice Halima Mohammed (Chairperson), Justice Patricia Ajoku and Justice Ogbogo Ejembi, had started entertaining complaints arising from the controversial Kogi governorship poll in Lokoja, the state capital on January 11.
The relocation of the tribunal was announced by its Secretary, Mr. Akanji Akinlabi in Lokoja yesterday.
The decision by Justice Bulkachuwa to relocate the tribunal is not new as other states, such as Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Taraba also had theirs relocated to Abuja last year for security reasons.
The tribunal has received the petitions of the running mate to late Prince Abubakar Audu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. James Faleke and immediate past governor, Idris Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenging the declaration of Yahaya Bello of APC as winner of the November 21 and December 5 supplementary poll in Kogi.
The African Democratic Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance, Labour Party, Progressive Peoples’ Alliance are the other petitioners.
