Metuh Finally Regains Freedom After Fulfilling Bail Conditions

The embattled national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, has been released on bail after nearly two weeks in Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and prison custody.

Mr. Metuh was arrested by the EFCC on January 5, 2016 over allegation of fraud.

He was specifically accused of receiving N400 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) through his company Destra Investment Ltd for no specific job done.

The PDP spokesman was subsequently arraigned before a federal high court sitting in Abuja on a seven-count charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/05/2016.

He was released from the Kuje prison on Thursday evening after satisfying the varied bail condition set by Justice Abang Okon.

It would be recalled that Metuh could not meet the initial bail condition – N200 million and two sureties in like sum, who must have landed properties each in Maitama District of Abuja – set by the court as a result of the latter condition, forcing the trial judge to amend the location of the landed properties in any other district of the FCT.
