‘Our weapons are not inferior,’ Military replies minister Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said earlier that Nigeria’s troops were fighting the insurgents with substandard weapons which had been bought by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

The Nigerian military has denied reports that it’s fighting terrorist sect, Boko Haram with inferior weaponry.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said earlier that Nigeria’s troops were fighting the insurgents with substandard weapons which had been bought by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

The military’s reaction was given by Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar during a recent appearance on Africa Independent Television (AIT).

“What I know is that we are using equipment which is okay for us. We have been achieving results,” he said.

“What I know is that we have equipment that can take us to where we are going…However, you cannot say you have everything you need for your operations.

Even the developed nations’ Armed Forces lack one thing or the other,” Abubakar said.

Mohammed had made the allegation after Jonathan claimed that the present administration was winning the war against terror with weapons purchased by his government.
