Sunderland football club has banned Adam Johnson from playing football for them pending the outcome of a 2-week trial that will start on Friday after the footballer admitted in court yesterday to two charges of se xual activity with a child and child grooming.
Last week Sunderland manager Sam Alladyce said Johnson will keep on playing for the club during the court trial but after the player admitted to two charges yesterday, the club decided to remove him from all football activities starting with this weekend’s game against Manchester United according to MirrorSport.
The 28 year old winger was arrested early last year after he was reported to the police for having se x and grooming a 15 year old girl. The maximum sentence for the offences he has admitted to is two years and six months in jail.
