Join strike, forfeit your salaries, Edo tell workers

 The Edo State Government has directed workers in the state civil service to shun the nationwide strike organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress.

According to a statement by the Head of Service, Gladys Idahor, on Wednesday, the state government warned that any worker who stayed away from work on the basis of the strike would forfeit his or her salary.
It noted that the NLC’s action was illegal because an injunction by the National Industrial Court which restrained the labour union from embarking on the strike.

The statement added, “All workers are expected to be at their duty posts. Any worker who stays away from work will forfeit his or her pay as the ‘no-work-no-pay’ rule will be strictly enforced.

“All public schools and institutions are expected to remain open as school is in session. Heads of departments and parastatals are directed to keep records of workers’ attendance for further action.”
