We’ll reconcile aggrieved PDP members, says Sheriff

Ahead of today’s (Saturday) National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, the Acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has assured that the PDP will embark on an aggressive reconciliation process.

Sheriff, who spoke with newsmen on Friday after he was screened at the Rivers State PDP Secretariat in Port Harcourt, said the reconciliation process would begin after the convention to ensure that every interest group is carried along.

The Screening Committee had Mr. Emmanuel Aguma (SAN), who is also the Rivers State Attorney-General as chairman with former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, as a member.

The committee also screened the Deputy National Chairman, Prince.

Sheriff told journalists that the PDP remained the only party that belonged to Nigerians, promising to carry everybody along.

He said, “PDP is the only party that belongs to Nigerians and owned by Nigerians. There is no sole owner of PDP. The PDP is for you; PDP is for our brothers in the village, PDP is for the elders in Abuja, PDP is for everybody. Therefore, we will carry everyone along.

“The way forward is for everybody to be united. Anybody that is aggrieved, we will work towards getting our members on one page.

“We want a united house. In party politics, it is natural that all views must not be the same. As much as possible, we will try to unite all views for everyone to have a sense of belonging.”

Also, the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Secondus, who spoke shortly after he was screened, described the exercise as normal in party politics as it is constitutional.

Chairman of the National Convention PDP Screening Committee, Aguma (SAN), said the screening was done in line with the constitution of the party, describing it as thorough.

The committee also screened other aspirants into different offices of the National Working Committee.
