Lady Gaga honors her close friend with Cancer at Coachella (Video)

Lady Gaga's stripped-down performance of "Edge of Glory" on Saturday at Coachella 2017 was dedicated to a friend with Stage IV cancer.

"My friend Sonja [Durham] is very sick and I love her so much and if it's okay with you," Gaga told the crowd. "I'd like to sing this song for her."
Midway through the song, Gaga said, "I'm sorry you don't feel well. We all wish you were here with us."

Durham and Gaga have been friends for over ten years and prior to falling ill, Durham was a former assistant of the singer.

According to sources, she was married on Apr. 14.

"I am happy to say I was released from the hospital last Wednesday and I've been home resting," Durham wrote.

"When my health started to decline a few months ago," Durham said, "Kat Thomas came on full time as my assistant. Just overall life saver and honestly really stepped up and took over my responsibilities at the Warehouse and helped things keep moving when Gaga didn't want me to work at all. Now we know that's not possible but I love and respect that she wanted me to just focus on my health and getting better."
