Abducted Wife Of UNIOSUN 'ASUU' Chairman Has Being Rescued

The wife of the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities at the Osun State University, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Abiona, has been released by her abductors.

Mrs. Abiona was kidnapped on Friday evening by a gang of five men around Uniosun junction, Osogbo/ Ibokun road, while heading home from her shop.

Later on Saturday, Mrs. Abiona’s abductors, demanded a ransom of N50 million before she could be freed.

A source said that the family dropped the ransom inside the bush where the abductors agreed to pick it and two of them were arrested in the process.

The ASUU chairman said that two members of the gang had been arrested by security operatives

Efforts to get confirmation of the development from the police proved futile as the Public Relations Officer of Osun Command, Folasade Odoro, DSP, could not be reached through her mobile line.

But husband of the victim, Dr. Seye Abiona, confirmed the release of his wife but declined comment when asked whether ransom was paid or not.
