Bomb Victims Seek Redress Through Human Rights Commission

The victims of bomb explosions in Nigeria are not giving up seeking redress.

They have taken their campaign to the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, who in turn has challenged them to come together as a group to demand their rights from the Federal Government.

Pointing out that many victims of bomb blasts in Nigeria were suffering without care, Prof. Odinkalu explained that there is an established protocol for managing cases of bomb blast victims.

He said that despite the existence of a Victims Support Fund, thousands of bomb victims in Nigeria were suffering without care or support.

Prof Odinkalu then advised that they must set up an association of bomb victims first as a means of having a legal voice upon which their demands can rest.

Although it may seem that their plea for assistance have been falling on deaf ears, the bomb victims have continued to demand that the Nigerian Government fulfills its pledges of giving them complete treatment for different degrees of injuries incurred from bomb blasts that have occurred in the country from December 31 2010 till date.
