The Federal Government on Thursday reiterated its commitment to rescuing the over 200 girls kidnapped in Chibok, Borno State since April.
While urging Nigerians to security conscious especially during the festivities period, the Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr Mike Omeri, said security operatives are fully aware of plans by terrorists to take advantage of the season to carry out their violent attacks.
“The government has not given up and will not give up in the search and rescue (of the Chibok girls) as can be evidenced in the recent arrest of investigation on all leads and trails.
“As the year 2014 gradually comes to an end, Nigerians have been advised to be very security conscious, especially during the end of the year festivities. Already security agents have been intimated of plans by insurgents to carry put major attacks against soft targets during this period”, he said adding that “these targets includes motor parks, churches, schools, mosques, recreational centres to cause large scale destruction of lives and property”.
