Woman removes her clothes in police holding cell after being arrested for public drunkenness

A woman was arrested on charges of public indecency after allegedly removing her clothes in a police holding cell, police in Zimbabwe said.

The Bulawayo Central Police Station said that the woman stripped twice to protest her arrest for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

25-year-old Sithenjisiwe Ncube undressed in front of 32 men and women, who were locked up in the same holding cell. The incident unfolded on Wednesday about 3:00 a.m.

Witnesses said that two police officers rushed into the cell and forced the woman to put on her clothes. However, 10 minutes later, she took off her clothes again.

Ncube was charged with public indecency. She was fined $50 or 15 days imprisonment.

Ncube told a court that she could not remember what happened on the day of her arrest, claiming that it was the first time she became drunk.
