Drogba's Son Says He Won't Play For Ivory Coast

Didier Drogba’s son Isaac, 16, has no intentions of representing the 2015 African Cup of Nations champions despite that His father is an Ivory Coast legend.

Talking to Sports Illustrated Drogba revealed that his son, who is currently a youth player at Chelsea, will opt to represent the Three Lions if he manages to make the grade as a professional foot baller.

The burly Blues forward explained that although he would have enjoyed seeing his son represent the Elephants, he won’t stand in his way of donning the white of England.

“When I asked him (Isaac) which country he would like to play for as an international, he told me neither Ivory Coast nor France but England,” Drogba said.

“I cannot tell why he doesn’t want to play for my country Ivory Coast if he had to choose a national team someday. That would be his choice,” he said.

Isaac was born in Paris in 1999 and is thus also eligible to play for France, but it is England where his heart lies.

Drogba’s family lived in England since he first joined Chelsea from Marseille in 2004.

The 36-year-old is Ivory Coast’s all-time top goal scorer with 65 goals in over 100 caps for the West African country."
