Nigerian Customs Seize Over 1,000 Smuggled Poultry Products

The Western Marine Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has seized over 1,000 cartons of smuggled poultry products.
The products were impounded across the creeks and coastline areas of the border between Nigeria and the Benin Republic.

Sounding a warning to smugglers after the destruction of the products, the Comptroller of Customs, Western Marine, Yusuf Umar, explained that the effort was geared towards the sustenance of the ban on importation of poultry.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) had seized frozen poultry products worth over 12 million naira during the first week of operation “Hawk Descend” in the South Western axis of Nigeria and Benin Republic border.

The seizures consist of 1,803 cartons of the banned products confiscated in the operation.

Most of the seizures were made when commercial vehicles conveying them were apprehended by Customs officers.
