Usman said four other suspected terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds during the encounter, adding that an AK 47 rifle was recovered from the killed Boko Haram commander.
The acting army spokesman stated that the troops of the 3 Division also arrested a suspected Boko Haram kingpin in Yobe state.
Just recently, a picture of a soldier holding the head of an alleged Boko Haram Kingpin surfaced on social media. He was reportedly beheaded for allegedly being the strongest among the group.
Speaking in New York on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari had said Nigerian troops have recorded tremendous victory against the Boko Haram insurgents.
