Airstrikes by coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia on Monday left at least 70 people dead at a wedding in Yemen.
Yemeni security officials say two airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition targeting Shiite rebels in the country struck a wedding party.
Dozens of guests have also been reported wounded in the attack. killing 28 people and wounding dozens.
Monday’s strikes reportedly hit the celebration in al-Wahga, a village near the Strait of Bab al-Mandab.
A Yemeni senior government official is quoted to have described the strikes as “a mistake.”
It was gathered that the U.S.-backed, Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out airstrikes against the rebels since March.
The conflict has reportedly killed at least 2,100 civilians, according to U.N. figures.
