Aston Villa Manager Tim Sherwood, Sacked

Manager of Aston Villa, Tim Sherwood has been sacked from the club eight months after appointment after the club is said to be sinking deep down the Premier League table

Aston Villa is currently 19th on the Premier League Table.

The decision to sever ties with the former Tottenham Hotspurs manager follows a 2-1 defeat by Swansea on Saturday – Villa’s sixth straight loss in the league this term.

The club said in a statement: “The board believes the results on the pitch were simply not good enough and that a change is imperative.”

Under-21 manager Kevin MacDonald has been placed in interim charge as the club embarks on a search for a permanent replacement.

Appointed in February, Sherwood reached the FA Cup final with Villa in his first season in charge where they succumbed 4-0 to an imperious Arsenal side, but has won one of ten league matches this season.

Sherwood has overseen just 28 games in all competitions since replacing Paul Lambert – the shortest spell for any permanent Villa manager.
