Former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday October 25, recounted how his vehicle had a burst tyre along the Ibadan-Lagos expressway and also thanked Nigerians for their show of concern about his welfare. OBJ as he is fondly called, revealed that he is hale and hearty and presently in Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire, where he is observing the presidential election.
The former military head of state in a release signed by his Media aide, “He was indeed involved in an incident on the Ibadan-Lagos expressway, after Sagamu interchange, while on his way to join in the celebrations of the 80th birthday anniversary of Sir Kessington Adebutu at Tinubu Methodist Church, Lagos.
“The vehicle, he was traveling in suffered a burst left tyre at the rear and swerved several times, but did not hit any curb or any car in front or behind until it did a 180 degree turn and faced where it was coming from; he had to change vehicle,” the statement said.
It was gathered that the former president left for Cote D Ivoire, after attending the birthday programme and was in high spirit, preparing for the elections, until he started receiving calls from family members, friends and associates expressing concern about his welfare.
