Police Confirm Suicide Attack In Kano, 6 People Dead

Explosion reportedly occurred in Kano Friday evening at Magasiku Filling Station, along Maiduguri road, opposite NNPC filling station in Hotoro area.

The people were returning home, as usual, and hear a loud sound, according to Sahara Reporters.

One of the locals said the explosion shook many building in the area. A lot of people are feared dead, based on the message dropped on Twitter.

Premium Times managed to contact Kano State police commissioner, Adenrele Shinaba, who confirmed the incident saying it was a suicide bombing. The explosion was so powerful that it left a deep crater on the station’s concrete floor, he said.
According to the police official, the bomber arrived in a Toyota Sienna van and queued alongside other customers, pretending as though buying fuel and then detonated the device. Six people died, including 3 policemen, and five other sustained injuries.

It would be recalled that Kano was targeted several times this July. The bloodiest attacks were launched by female bombers. One of the blasts occurred in Kano Islamic Legal Studies College.

In September gunmen stormed another education institution, the federal college in Kano, detonated bombs and opened fire at those students who tried to flee. At least 10 people were killed.

Shockingly, the July 28 bombing took place in the same area where the today’s incident occurred: Hotoro Quarter along Maiduguri Road.
