The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has urged prospective voters in Kogi State to leverage on the extension of Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) collection which ends on the 8th of March.
The National Commissioner in charge of Kogi, Kwara and Niger States, Abdulkadir Oniyangi stated this while monitoring the distribution of PVCs in Lokoja.
The Commissioner embarked on the visit to monitor States under his jurisdiction to ascertain the level of compliance by the staff of the commission and prospective voters. Although, it was against the backdrop of the extension for the collection of the PVC from February 14th to March 28th by INEC.
The National Commissioner in company of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Mr Husseini Halilu Pai, in Kogi State first went to Crowther Memorial Center where only few people were seen collecting their PVCs.
The team also visited the Kabawa Center which was of no difference from the first center where only few people were also seen collecting their PVCs.
Mr. Oniyangi at the end of the monitoring exercise, told Journalists that the commission is willing and ready to conduct free, fair and credible elections come March 28th.
While the State REC said with the extension of date, appreciation numbers of electorate had taken the advantage to collect their PVCs, owing that over 100,000 people had collected their PVCs in the State."
