There are indications that President Muhammadu Buhari may have ordered a discreet investigation into the activities of chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde and other members of the top echelon of the anti-graft agency.
Vanguard reports that the directive for the discreet investigation was allegedly issued by President Buhari as a result of concerns raised over sundry allegations made against Lamorde of acts incompatible with leadership of the anti-crime agency.
Vanguard similarly reports that the discreet the investigations is being coordinated by the office of the National Security Adviser and involves officials from the National Intelligence Agency and the Department of State Services.
A source in the office of the National Security Adviser is said to have told Vanguard that the investigation commenced before the widely publicised petition by Dr George Uboh, Chief Executive Officer, Panic Alert Security Services accusing Lamorde of various fraudulent acts and omissions.
It had also been reported in sections of the media that the EFCC chairman could allegedly not account for seized monies amounting to well over N1 trillion.
