Bukola Saraki, the Senate president attended the inauguration of the Standing Committees of the House of Assembly today, November 9. The Senate president got a standing ovation from members of the House, who kept applauding him for several minutes.

Saraki wished the members of the House the best of luck as they all
work together to legislate for the common good of the nation.
The chairmen and vice chairman heading the 96 committees of the House were unveiled on October 22.

According to Yakubu Dogara, the speaker of the House of rep, the
current realities made it imperative for him to increase the number of
the committees.
Out of the 96, APC got 48 committees, while PDP clinched 46,
including the likes of the committees on Petroleum (downstream and
upstream), Navy, Gas, Aviation, Army, Works and Foreign Affairs.
Social Democratic Party and All Progressives Grand Alliance also got one committee chairmanship seat each.
