No Harm Must Befall Ex-NSA Dasuki, Fayose Warns Buhari, DSS

Nigerians have been asked to hold President Muhammadu Buhari responsible should any harm befall the immediate past National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.).
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, who raised the alarm on Friday, was reacting to the refusal of the Department of State Services, DSS, to allow the former NSA travel abroad to seek medical treatment.
On Thursday, we had reported that Justice Ademola Adeniyi of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had flayed the DSS for placing Dasuki under house arrest, in flagrant disobedience to the permission he granted the ex-NSA to seek treatment for an undisclosed ailment abroad.
The court ordered the DSS to immediately vacate Dasuki’s Asokoro, Abuja residence to enable him proceed on his treatment.
Reacting to the chain of events surrounding Dasuki’s trial by the Federal Government on a criminal charge of unlawful arms possession and money laundering, Fayose lambasted President Buhari and the Director-General of the DSS, Lawal Daura, saying their actions amounted to dictatorship.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) placement of the former NSA under house arrest despite court order that his international passport be released so that he can travel abroad for medical treatment is wicked, inhuman, dictatorial and a clear attempt to deny him of his rights to life as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria”, the governor said in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka.
He also commended Friday’s ruling by the Federal High Court, saying “Nigerians, especially men of the judiciary, must join hands to shake dictatorship off the body of President Buhari and his hatchet man, Alhaji Lawal Daura”.
Mr. Fayose said he was particularly happy that Justice Adeniyi insisted that court orders must be obeyed and that his order should not be flouted.
“Nigerians who fought late General Sani Abacha to a standstill will fight this emerging Buhari’s ‘militocracy’, which is a clear threat to our hard-earned democracy”, he said.
Fayose said he was already vindicated on his earlier claim that Daura was an instrument of political persecution by the present administration.
He likened the DSS boss to Mohammed Rafindadi of the defunct Nigerian Security Organisation, NSO, who he said, was also used by Buhari as instrument of political persecution between 1984 and 1985 while he was military head of state.
Gov. Fayose reminded President Buhari that the Nigeria of 1984 was different from that of 2015.
“President Buhari seized late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s international passport and prevented him from travelling abroad for medicare in 1985, thereby leading to his (Awolowo) untimely death of 1987.
“Buhari also hounded former Bayelsa State governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha to death all in the name of fighting perceived political opponents.
“Therefore, it has become necessary to raise the alarm that nothing must happen to Dasuki.
“The fate that befell Awolowo in 1985 must not be allowed to befall Sambo Dasuki in 2015 and Nigerians must rise against this Buhari’s dictatorship and his instrument of oppression, Lawal Daura”, he said.
