The decision by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai to release the poster containing photographs of 100 Boko Haram suspects wanted by the Nigeria Army yielded the desired result on Saturday with the arrest of a high-profile terrorist on the list.
The suspect, Danladi Abdullahi, was arrested by the Borno State Command of Department of State Services (DSS) earlier today at Moduganari area of Maiduguri metropolis.
A statement posted on the Facebook page of the Defence Headquarters said while Abdullahi is still being investigated, it has been positively established that he is suspect number 26 on the list of 100 Boko Haram terrorists issued by Gen. Buratai last month.
The statement said the Chief of Army Staff personally commended the DSS, especially Borno State Command, for this singular act, resilience and continued support and cooperation in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency.
“The DSS has over times proven to be dependable and partners in the quest for a secured Nigeria”, Buratai said.
Meanwhile, the DHQ has reiterated that the fight against Boko Haram is a collective responsibility, which requires the support, cooperation and understanding of members of the public.
It said as the Nigerian military sustains the battle to quench the remaining dying embers of the Boko Haram terrorists in the country, there is need by all and sundry to be more vigilant and security conscious.
The latest arrest is coming about five days after another suspected terrorist declared wanted by the Army – Chindo Bello, was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as he attempted to board an Aero Contractors’ Airline flight to Lagos.
