As Christians the world over commemorate Christmas Day, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie-Oyegun, has called on Nigerians – Christians and non-Christians alike – to reflect deeply on the virtues of love, tolerance, godliness, honesty, fairness, selflessness and peaceful co-existence, which Jesus Christ embodied during his earthly sojourn.
Mr. Odigie-Oyegun, in a goodwill message to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on Friday, urged Nigerians to offer special prayers for peace, unity and development in the country.
He urged Nigerians to shun hatred, divisiveness and promote national unity.
Mr. Odigie-Oyegun also urged Nigerians to pray for the military and other security agents fighting to overcome terrorism and violent extremism as well as prayers for victims and internally displaced persons in the insurgency-ravaged North East.
Odigie-Oyegun further called on religious leaders to pray for the nation and its leaders continuously, as the prevailing situation in the country called for wise counsel and divine intervention.
