In Abuja-- Angry Man Charged To Court For Beating a Sales Girl

An Upper Area Court in Kuje in FCT on Tuesday remanded in prison custody, a 38-year-old man, Sunday Nnamani, who allegedly beat a salesgirl to stupor. Nnamani, who resides at Union Homes in Kuje, was charged with assault, mischief, causing hurt and resisting arrest.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Ocheche Samuel, said that Nnamani’s neighbour, Mr Iwu Amaefula, reported the case at the Kuje Police Station on Nov. 4.
He said that the accused and another man, still at large, bought provisions from Amaefula’s shop at Union Homes on Oct. 27, and refused to pay the salesgirl.

“When the salesgirl demanded for the money, the accused, with his friend now at large, started beating her, and when the complainant tried to intervene, he was also beaten,’’ Samuel said.

The prosecutor said that Nnamani broke the complainant’s reading glasses, some bottles, cups, plates and plastic chairs, all valued at N43, 000.

Samuel also said that the accused refused to honour an invitation by the police.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 79, 262, 263,326, 240 and 172 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the five-count charge.

The judge, Mr Abdulahi Abdulkareem, adjourned the case till Nov. 17 for hearing. (NAN)

Candid Rants: Why does this story sound fishy? So the men just descended on the sales girl after she did nothing to them? Hard to believe, but it might actually be true. I bet she might have bad mouthed the men. However, that does not warrant them putting hands on her no matter what.
