Barcelona register 77 new players after their 14-month transfer ban is finally lifted

A busy start to the transfer window for Barcelona after their ban on signing players was lifted.

The Catalan club were given a transfer ban for 14 months by FIFA for breaching rules on signing players younger than 18 years of age.

But the ban is over and Barcelona have let the rest of the league know about it – registering no fewer than 77 new players.

In that list are the high-profile signings of Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal from Atletico Madrid and Sevilla respectively, but that leaves 75 other players.

Fortunately for Luis Enrique, not all of these new faces will be vying for first-team action straight away.

The new arrivals stretch right across Barcelona’s teams from all age groups.

On Monday, 10,000 Barcelona fans turned out to watch their squad train and welcome midfielde Turan and defender Vidal.

The only players unable to train were the injured Sergi Roberto and Rafinha, with fans able to cheer Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar, Andres Iniesta and coach Luis Enrique.
