On-again, off-again couple Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart are definitely dating, and that’s all there is to it.
“We were down in Miami together for New Years,” Lopez, 46, says in an interview on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing Tuesday. “He was working. I didn’t have to work – I had literally two days off. We we were hanging out.”
The singer and actress, whose NBC drama Shades of Blue debuts on Thursday, has been coy about the man in her life, but assures DeGeneres she’s not hiding big plans.
After Lopez reveals she gave Smart, 28, a tuxedo for Christmas – “I’m opening [my concert residency] in Vegas, and I was like, ‘You can wear this on opening night so you look nice,'” she explains – DeGeneres shares her hilarious theory about the gift.
“Or for the wedding,” the host says. “When is it? Do you know?”
“No – no wedding,” Lopez replies. “There’s no wedding.”
That doesn’t mean forever, though. Lopez also told Today on Tuesday that she would “maybe” get married again.
“I love getting married,” she said. “I really want to get married in a church, with a big dress.”
Although the American Idol judge and her choreographer beau aren’t quite ready for a first kiss as husband and wife, they weren’t shy about showing their connection while celebrating New Year’s Eve in Miami.
“J-Lo and Caser were very loving,” a source tells PEOPLE of the night out. “He grabbed her hand and led her through the crowd from Touché restaurant, where they dined, to E11even club.”
Lopez, who stunned in a sequined Valentino mini-romper, was originally set to sit near Drake’s table in the main party pit, but later made her way to the VIP section with Smart, according to the onlooker.
“At that point, Casper grabbed her hand again, acting as her own personal security guard, and led the way again to the upstairs table,” the source tells PEOPLE. “While at the table, they danced and sang along. He never left her side.”
While the pair are clearly in a good place, Lopez also told Today that her happiness doesn’t hinge on her relationship status.
“Someone can add to your happiness but that’s not what’s gonna make you happy,” she shared. “I had to get happy on my own. It’s been a learning curve.”
