The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday said it would present the voters’ register to be used for the upcoming general elections to political parties on Tuesday.
The commission in its Bulletin released in Abuja said that the presentation of the register would take place at the Conference Hall of its headquarters in Abuja.
"By the same token, the commission shall publish the list of nominated candidates contesting for the presidency and National Assembly on January 13, 2015.
"The list of those contesting for the offices of governor and to the House of Assembly will be published on January 27, 2015," the bulletin said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 20 of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) provides that the register of voters for an election shall be published at least 30 days before the election.
The timetable and schedule of activities for the 2015 general elections released on January 24, 2014, indicated that INEC shall release/publish the official register of voters for the election on January 13, 2015.
