1. “Never be ashamed! There’s some who will hold it against you, but they are not worth bothering with.” – J. K. Rowling.
There
will always be someone who will try to convince you that your dreams
are not achievable. They will happily tell you that you don’t have what
it takes, or that you should get your feet back on the ground. Ignore
these people, they are probably only jealous of your ambition and dreams
anyway.
2. “I can’t imagine a person becoming a success who doesn’t give this game of life everything he’s got.” – Walter Cronkite.
This
is some straight talking from the man who was once known as the most
trusted man in America. Anyone can have a dream, but if you don’t give
it your all, or you give up when the going gets a bit tough, you simply
cannot ever succeed. Giving it all you’ve got is how dreams are turned
into reality.
3. “When you reach an obstacle, turn it into an opportunity.” – Mary Kay Ash
Mary
Kay Ash, founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, nearly gave up and retired,
when she was overlooked for a promotion at work, but she decided to
follow her dream and do it on her own instead. When you do meet
challenges along the way, meet them head on. They might teach you some
valuable lessons, or even set you on a more successful path.
4. “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”- Confucius
This
is another one of wonderful follow your dreams quotes. You have to
start somewhere and your dreams will not be achieved overnight, but if
you persevere, you will get there in the end. This quote is for all
those people who have thought: “I’ll never get there”, or “It will take
too long”. You can only complete any journey, one small step at a time.
5. “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is to always try one more time.” -Thomas Edison
This
follow your dreams quote comes from the man who invented the electric
light bulb, but did you know that he also invented the motion picture
camera, the phonograph and was the first inventor to employ the idea of
mass production? This man’s dream, literally, changed the world, so we
should pay attention to his words. If you don’t make it all the way the
first time, then give it another go, because the next time around you
will be better prepared.
6. “Remember to celebrate milestones as you prepare for the road ahead.” – Nelson Mandela.
This
is very wise advice for anyone who is following their dream. It is
important to celebrate all of the minor achievements along the way. That
motivates you to go for the next goal and it serves to remind you that,
even though it may take some time to reach the ultimate target, you are
making progress toward it.
7. “Follow your intuition, listening to your dreams, your inner voice to guide you.” – Katori Hall
Katori
Hall is a playwright and journalist, and she was the first black women
to have won an Oliver Award for Best New Play in 2010. What she says
here is so true. Dreams don’t always make perfect sense and pure logic
might dictate that you don’t even try, but sometimes you do just have to
follow what feels right to you and trust in your own gut instinct.
8. “To achieve great things, you need a plan and not quite enough time.” – Leonard Bernstein
The
American composer who is probably best known as the composer of the
music from the musical Westside Story brings two points into one in this
wonderful quote. You can’t follow a dream without a plan and, if you
look too closely at it, you probably don’t have enough time to do it.
Don’t let that deter you, though, because all the great things that have
been achieved in the world were done within a limited timescale.
9. “The only boundaries for me are those I place on myself. I can make my own dreams come true.” – Shelly Wu
It
really is true that what stops most people following their dreams is
their own self-doubt. Think about it; what is stopping you achieving
your ambitions? Is it really because it is an impossible dream, or is it
because you don’t have enough faith in yourself?
10. “You have to dream before your dreams can come true.” – A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
Never
be afraid to dream, it’s what can inspire you to make the most out of
life and, when you do have a dream, follow it and put your all into it.
Our ability to dream is what makes us so different from all the other
creatures on the planet. It’s what gives us the drive to make things
happen.
