Patience Jonathan Leads Bayelsa Women For Dickson Second Term Declaration

As the rift between Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson and former president Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, over control of the Peoples Democratic Party structure in the state come to an end, they are now expected to be present at the formal declaration of Dickson for December 5, gubernatorial race.

Former governor of the state, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, Ijaw leaders and other stalwarts of the PDP from the South-South zone are expected to grace the occasion.

Meanwhile, Dickson and the wife of the former president who have been engaged in a cold war have settled their difference. Recall that Patience reportedly resigned her position as a special permanent secretary in the Bayelsa civil service in the heat of the cold war. She was also said to have openly ordered her loyalists to support the ambition of the All Progressives Congress chieftain, Timipre Sylva.

According to sources, the decision of Patience to support Dickson’s candidature is to prevent the PDP in Bayelsa from suffering the same fate its suffered at the centre.

However, Alamieyesigha has been campaigning strongly for the emergence of Dickson for second term saying the governor is a marketable product that will secure a second term bid from the Bayelsa people.

Meanwhile, Alamieyesigha had called on Bayelsa people to vote for Dickson saying that the people should stop changing governor at will.
