While other newly appointed Ministers have vowed not to take or give bribe in the discharge of their duties, the Minister of Youth and Sport, Solomon Dalong, has said he would accept only just one – the “bribe” of justice.
“…anything short of it I will invite the law”, Mr. Dalong said.
The minister made the remark yesterday during his official resumption at the ministry.
Mr. Dalong said his responsibility as minister is to distribute justice and to ensure that he is fair and just in the management of the ministry.
“If you bribe me with justice I will take it but anything short of it, I will advise the law to look at it”, he said.
According to him, “Anything short of justice that you approach me with I will invite the law to determine the relationship of what you want to give me”.
Dalong, who was dressed in his trademark khaki uniform and beret cap, recalled the adage that youth are the leaders of tomorrow but having waited patiently for that future to come without any signs of showing, they became frustrated and engaged in shady deals.
The minister noted that the challenges confronting the Nigeria youth are not only critical but crucial, stressing that the country has the largest population of youths as political thugs.
