A man fell to his death after attempting to scale the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan on Wednesday night.
According to The New York Times, Conner Cummings, 24, and an 18-year-old friend, whose name has not been disclosed by authorities, managed to gain access to one of the hotel’s roofs and climbed scaffolding attached to an interior shaft of the 52-story hotel.
The pair were purportedly hoping to climb to the top in order to take photos of the skyline.
But as each man help opposite sides of the scaffolding, it began to rain and Cummings allegedly slipped, falling nearly nine stories and landing onto the 43rd floor landing.
Cummings was pronounced dead at the scene.
The friend was questioned and later released, reports The New York Times.
Neither men were guests at the hotel.
“We’re trying to get answers,” Cummings’ aunt, Kate Gentile, told WABC. “They say that he went up the elevator, and then went up a stairway and then went out on a balcony.”
“I mean, he’s a young kid – he’s a good kid,” she added, claiming the two “weren’t drinking or anything, they were taking a picture.”
