The Edo State Government on Saturday said it had put measures in place to check the spread of Lassa fever.
The Executive Director, Media and Public Affairs in the Governor’s Office, Mr. John Mayaki, stated this after monitoring the first environmental exercise for the year in Benin metropolis.
A statement from his office said the monitoring exercise kicked off as early as 7a.m from Ring Road, Benin-City and ended at Ramat Park.
Speaking on the steps taken by the state government to curtail the spread of Lass fever, Mayaki noted that part of the measures was the ongoing fumigation of markets across the state.
BalooggsBlog.reports that Lassa fever is now in 19 states across the country and has already claimed over 63 lives.
