Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan
Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan, has threatened to arrest and prosecute anyone regardless of his or her standing in the society that makes any inciting statement in a bid to heat the polity in the nation.
He made this known on Monday as a guest speaker during the launch of a book written by civil rights activist Mr. Yinka Odumakin in Lagos State, titled "Watch the Watcher".
“I am sorry to say that those who are disturbing the polity today in Nigeria are former PDP members; those who have been ministers, governors, those who have served their term and because they are no longer useful in PDP thought they would gang up and form a political party and that’s why they have said that even if they don’t win, they will form a parallel government.”
He said anyone with such intention is practicing mutiny and would be held culpable for treason, stating that the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Security Services have been informed that whosoever makes any inflammatory statement again would be dealt with.
He said, “This country belongs to each and everyone of us, if you say anything mutinous you will be arrested and prosecuted no matter how highly placed you are.”
He also accused former President Obasanjo of trying to introduce an interim government in Nigeria after loosing his bid to impose his own Vice Presidential Candidate on the APC.
“We would cast our votes, they would be counted, the president of this country would be announced and whoever becomes the president we will all join hands to work with him. If anybody is bringing any other agenda he better have a rethink”, he said.
He also said that if in the future any trace of corrupt activities who found in him, he should be swiftly thrown in jail.
