French phone brand, Wiko Mobile, on Thursday affirmed that its range of 11 phones launched in the Nigerian market are certified by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and by international regulators.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the Wiko Mobile Channel Marketing Manager, Mr Adebayo Abodunde Adams.
Abodunde said NCC granted “Type Approval’’ for Wiko’s various ranges of phone to operate as terminal equipment in the Nigerian telecommunication network.
He said the approvals for the phones were signed since September 2014 by Mr Haru Alhassan, NCC Director, Technical Standards and Network Integrity on behalf of the NCC Executive Vice-Chairman.
The official said that the approval was granted before the formal introduction of the phones into the Nigerian market a month later.
Abodunde said that the Wiko products approved by NCC include Highway, Highways-Signs, Bloom, Rainbow, Lenny, Goa, Sunset, Riff, Luib3, Kar3 and Fizz.
“Quality and style have been the basis for the wide and rapid acceptance of Wiko phone range in
both the Nigerian and other markets across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“We, at Wiko are conscious of our heritage and comply with regulatory standards, as well as corporate governance codes in our operations.
“All Wiko phones have the ConformitĂ© EuropĂ©ene (CE) marking.
“This is a key indicator of a product’s compliance with all legislation and enables the free movement of products within the European market,’’ the channel marketing manager said.
He said that NCC in Nigeria had further subjected the products for the Nigerian market to conformity tests to certify them.
According to him, Wiko Mobile launched into the Nigerian market on October 22, 2014 in Lagos and has gained rapid acceptance among youths, with its offer of smart and feature phones. (NAN)
