The police has arrested 12 suspected ritualists in Akwukwu Igbo near Asaba, Delta State.
The arrest of the suspects was confirmed by DSP Celestina Kalu who is Police Public Relations Officer in the state. He said that the suspects were arrested based on a tip- off, following their illicit activities inside the thick forest, especially as some corpses were alleged to have been exhumed in the last few weeks by unknown persons.
DSP Celestina Kalu disclosed that the suspects would be charged to court after they have completed their investigation, adding that they were still helping the police at the state CID.
She further said that upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, saying that they used dead bodies to prepare native bathing soap for their patrons, especially.
