Mr. Osagie Okunbor
The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) has announced the appointment of Mr. Osagie Okunbor, as its new managing director.
Okunbor takes over from the former managing director, Mutiu Sunmonu, who is retiring after 36 years of service, Okunbor has also been named the Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, combining the two positions his predecessor also held and becoming the third Nigerian to hold both posts, after Mr. Basil Omiyi and Sunmonu.
This was contained in a statement released yesterday by the company's corporate media relations manager, Precious Okolobo.
Okunbor holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Benin, and is an accomplished professional, who brings over 28 years of industry experience and expertise to the role.
He has worked in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Brunei and currently The Netherlands.
His previous assignments included Vice President, Human Resources for Shell’s Upstream Business in Sub-Saharan Africa and Vice President, Infrastructure and Logistics Shell Nigeria.
He is currently Senior Advisor in Shell’s Upstream International operated business, based in The Hague, The Netherlands, from where he returns to Port Harcourt to take up his new role.
He is set to assume office on March 1, 2015.
