The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, has said the Nigeria Police needs about N8.7 billion to effectively combat insurgency in the country.
While speaking at an interactive session with Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, on Thursday, Arase said the Force needs at least N8.7 billion to successfully end insurgency.
The IGP said there was another N57bn outstanding due to the Nigerian police that was appropriated but has not been released till date.
He also added that all constables presently serving will go on compulsory training to enable them move to the rank of corporal.
“Only the proposed 10,000 recruits will now spot the uniforms of constables in the police force,” he said.
