The Federal Government has denied the claim by the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, that $30 billion is missing from the excess crude account.
Describing the allegation as shocking and totally untrue, the ministry said that Governor Oshiomhole’s allegation is an attempt to politicise the management of the economy on the basis of half-truths and distortions.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Communication to the Minister of Finance, Paul Nwabuikwu, the ministry explained that “there is no $30 billion missing from the excess crude account as alleged by Governor Oshiomhole”
It added, “We do not share Governor Oshiomhole’s overly bleak view of the country’s economic prospects.”
Governor Oshiomhole on Thursday alleged that the Federal Government has failed to account for about $30billion that had accrued to the excess crude account in the last three years.
