Yobe: Explosion At Potiskum School Kills One

An explosive buried at the assembly ground of Ari Kime primary in Potiskum, Yobe State reportedly killed a wheelbarrow pusher yesterday.

It was gathered that the bomb went off around 7.35pm when a water vendor using a wheelbarrow tried crossing assembly ground and stepped on the bomb.

A resident in the area, Abubakar Yusuf said that those who planted the bomb may be targeting final year students currently attending special classes for the their Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

“You know Ari Kime is the most populated area in Potiskum and the school has a very large population because it combine primary and junior secondary schools and right now SSCE candidates are taking special classes inside the school.” Abubakar said.

Potiskum town has witnessed series of bomb attacks within the last two months and the most recent killed over 50 students of Government Science Secondary School Potiskum during an early morning explosion on the school’s assembly ground.
