Angelina Jolie-Pitt has been candid about her road to early menopause, after having her ovaries removed earlier this year.
Now, the 40-year-old – who alos had a double mastectomy after learning she had an 87 per cent risk of developing breast cancer due to a defective BRCA1 gene – told Sunday Style magazine on Sunday: ‘I actually love being in menopause’.She added: ‘I feel older, and I feel settled being older. I feel happy that I’ve grown up…I don’t want to be young again.’
The
Hollywood heavyweight has shared her journey over the past two years to
raise awareness of the preventative treatment options for those with
the defective BRCA1 gene.
She
first had a double mastectomy at the age of 37 and subsequently had her
ovaries removed earlier this year, eight years after her actress mother
Marcheline Bertrand died, aged 56, having battled both breast and
ovarian cancer.
The faulty gene is also believed to have affected eight other members of her family, including aunts and cousins.
