Former Nigerian head coach, Shuaibu Amodu has been appointed to the Technical Director position of the Nigeria Football Federation.
The decision to appoint the tactitian was made after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for AFCON 2015 after being held to a 2-2 draw by South Africa.
NFF’s executive committee also appealed to Nigerians to forgive the team for failing short of qualifying and defending AFCON title.
The meeting to appoint Amodu was set up by a nine man panel to try and amend NFF statutes.
The committee was headed by Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi while Olaleye Adepoju, Oswald Atuake, Yusuf Ali Fresh, Ibrahim Gusau, Mohammed Saidu, Chidi Okenwa, Ephraim Chukwuemeka and Joshua Onoja who is the secretary where in attendance.
The committee also declared the creation of a technical study group who would look into Nigerian player development in developmental Leagues in Europe for the purpose of creating a pool of future Super Eagles players.
This group is headed by Jay Jay Okocha, with Benedict Akwuegbu, Celestine Babayaro, Michael Obiku, Darlington Omodiagbe, Finidi George, Taribo West, Tijani Babangida, Kashimawo Laloko, Henry Nwosu, Peter Rufai, Dominic Iorfa, Nwankwo Kanu, Dahiru Sadi, Gbenga Ogunbote, Mutiu Adepoju, Florence Omagbemi, Mercy Akide-Udoh, Ann Chiejine, Eucharia Uche, Salisu Yusuf, Alloy Agu and Benedict Iroha as members.
Eagles had failed to qualify for the African Cup of nations 2015 and therefore won’t be able to defend their title.
