The Swiss justice ministry has frozen over 50 million Swiss Franc belonging to the world football governing body, FIFA over alleged corruption.
It was reported that between 50 million and 100 million Swiss francs which translates to over 50 million to 100 million US dollars have been frozen by the Swiss authorities.
Meanwhile, the suspended FIFA president, Sepp Blatter has since appeared before the organization’s ethics committee in Zurich over the frozen money in company of his lawyers. His fate would be decided in a ruling slated for next week.
Blatter who is strongly pleading his innocence over corruption allegations is being heard in front of the committee, and also due to depart FIFA on February 26, 2016.
Sepp Blatter is facing life ban from football, with the FIFA ethics committee on corruption related charges, after he paid about £1.35 million to Union of European Football Associations’ president, Michel Platini.
