The governor in represented by his wife, Hon. Justice Suzzette Eberechi Nyesom Wike, made the call yesterday, December 14, in Port Harcourt, while speaking at the national executive committee and annual general meeting of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).

According to him, his administration has impacted positively on the lives of the people of the state through his development programmes and commitment to the welfare of the people.

He said: “I will do everything in my power and capacity as the governor of Rivers State to support FIDA and the women of Rivers State. Women can be provocative, it should not be an excuse for men to be violent towards women.

“Our men should be taught to exercise more self control and our women should be less provocative. Men should be the best they can be as husbands so that they can look after their wives.”

Meanwhile, the Appeal Court has fixed today,  December 15, to give ruling on the appeal of Governor Nyesom Wike urging the court to set aside the judgment of the gubernatorial poll petition tribunal.
