Thee traditional annual run is organised by the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity, which calls for transparency in their Government’s anti-corruption policies.
The nude protest in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, was atteneded by freshmen, current students and even alumni.
While some participants wore masks to protect their identity,
others ran around the campus in the buff with placards and flowers in
their hands.
Ed Lucero, an alumni organiser of the fraternity explained their actions: “Our theme is ‘Unveiling the road’ because the government needs to be naked, to be transparent with their work. It means we should strive very hard to strip them bare, not a fake road where only a few can benefit.”
The annual rite began in the late 197os, and had since then become a way for student advocacy on socio-political issues.
According to the APO fraternity, this year’s demonstration was a call
for change and a call for 2016 candidates “to be genuine leaders who
really want to serve the country.”Watch video:
