As the Super Eagles begin preparations for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), an official of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has said that coach Sunday Oliseh will be absent from training for health reasons.
Vanguard reports that assistant coaches Salisu Yusuf and Jean Francois Loscuito will supervise the team’s training with Oliseh calling the shots from his sick bed in Belgium.
He said: “Oliseh will be in touch with the camp via Skype and telephone, like he did when they played the second leg of the qualifiers in Burkina Faso without him on the bench.”
Oliseh has named 26 players for this training camp with a possibility that some of the stand-out players from the U-23 AFCON in Senegal will be drafted.
Nigeria, who placed third at last year’s tournament, are drawn in the same group with Niger, Tunisia and Guinea.
The competition begins on January 16 in Kigali, Rwanda with Nigeria opening their campaign two days later against Niger.
