Rivers Police Rescue Two Kidnapped Victims, Gun Down Three Kidnappers

The Rivers state police command has announced that the recent onslaught on criminal has yielded safe rescue of two more kidnapped victims namely Bayo David and Iyabi Segun on Tuesday December 15.

A statement from Ahmad Muhammad, the police public relations officer (PPRO), in Port Harcourt reads:
“Their rescue came at the heels of the timely and actionable information received from a patriotic citizen who saw when the duo while on transit near Elebrada junction along East-West road were stopped by armed men and forcefully dragged them into the nearby bush abandoning the victim’s Toyota Highlander jeep by the road side.

“Quick response to the information by policemen and subsequent combing of the forest led to gun duel with the suspected kidnappers. The confrontation resulted in the safe rescue of the victims as three the unidentified suspected kidnappers were gunned down while their other co-traveller escaped. The victims according to them were on their way to Lagos.”

The victim’s vehicle, two locally made pistols and two objects suspected to be charms were recovered after the rescue operations.

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reportedly delivered judgment on the Rivers state governorship election held on April 11.

According to reports, the appeal court has upheld the ruling of the tribunal. Therefore, Governor Nyesom Wike’s election stands nullified.
