Buhari’s Supporters Pressure Tambuwal
Supporters of the former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, are reportedly pressurising the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Aminu Tambuwal to shelve his presidential ambition.
This Day reports that since the Speaker made known his intention to run for Presidency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress last week, he has been under a great deal of pressure from supporters of former Head of State telling him not to contest.
Buhari is seen as the leading aspirant of the party and his supporters see the entry of fellow North-west man, Tambuwal, into the race as a possible upset that should not be allowed. But Tambuwal’s declaration of interest in the presidential race has, obviously, upset the campaign strategies of the party’s other main aspirants like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwanso and publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah as well as Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.
