President Goodluck Jonathan and the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba
The Nigerian police have been instructed by the Jonathan administration to “screen” the civilian vigilante groups (known as Civilian JTF) hours after brave civilians recaptured Mubi, Adamawa state.
Rather than obtain support from the government, it looks like the brave vigilantes who are being internationally celebrated for their successful action in the recapture of occupied territories where Nigerians were suffering under Boko Haram rule (a feat the Nigerian army could not) are to be persecuted?
The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, told all officials of police to oversee the activities of the vigilante groups and deliver regular reports on them.
According to the statement by the police spokesperson, Emmanuel Ojukwu, this was intended to ensure that the groups abide by relevant regulations and avoid any form of abuse.
Ojukwu said a notice was also delivered by the IGP, against the use of thugs by politicians, stating that both thugs and sponsors would be arrested and sued.
He said the order became authoritative to make sure the forthcoming general elections were free of violence.
Dr. Peregrino Brimah supposes this action is a clear and further unquestionable sign that Jonathan is a sponsor of Boko Haram sect. The abrupt urgency to hunt the brave vigilantes is in-your-face, indication of the Jonathan government’s desperate and bold desire to obstruct and destroy the nation.
Barely had the armed civilian resistance forces scored these amazing victories and liberated the people, also seizing and handing over Boko Haram’s “Emir” installed in Mubi to the Nigerian security department, did Jonathan hurry to direct the police to attempt to harass these brave and selfless warriors to “follow protocol.”
Maiha fell into the hands of Boko Haram insurgents after a fierce battle with the Nigerian troops on Monday.
Meanwhile, the local hunters trapped the terrorists and killed them in their dozens.
The insurgents have taken over many towns and villages in Adamawa State, including Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South and many others.
