Why Man Baths Self, Wife With Acid In Abuja
A middle aged man on Wednesday reportedly poured a liquid substance suspected to be acid on the wife and self in Gwagwa area of Abuja.
Leadership reports that the victims are currently battling for their lives at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada.
The incident occurred following a heated argument that broke out in the morning between the couple, after the husband allegedly accused his wife of stealing money from his safe, which she vehemently denied.
Neighbours say the couple were rushed to a nearby clinic in the area but were rejected by the doctors on duty because the clinic did not have the needed apparatus for such treatment and were taken to University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where they are being treated for acid burns.
Neighbours said shortly after the quarrel between the couple, who hails from Enugu State, the husband left the house and came back carrying a container, which nobody suspected to have contained acid.
It was gathered that the husband called his wife inside and reportedly poured the acid on her head and face, before pouring the remaining content on himself.
The neighbours said they rushed down to the apartment after they (neighbours) heard screams from the wife and the man, adding that the woman’s face was already burnt as well as that of her husband.
It would be recalled that on November 3, 2014, the Enugu state police command declared one Ikenna Ozioko of Umuezebi, Nsukka, wanted after he reportedly poured acid on his neighbour, Victor Onah.
